For our kids' Christmas present this year we made the long-awaited trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure theme park. Mychael and Nathan have each read the books three times, or more, and Jordan and I are reading them aloud together, they are fantastic. Here we are, having arrived when the park opened, making a beeline for Hogsmeade:
Jon and Nathan on The Flight of the Hippogriff:
Not really a morning person:
Hogwarts Castle, it was awesome:
"Hogsmeade looked like a Christmas card; the little thatched cottages and shops were all covered in a layer of crisp snow; there were holly wreaths on the doors and strings of enchanted candles hanging in the trees." From Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, page 200.
A mandrake, so cool!
We ate lunch at The Three Broomsticks:
Tried some butterbeer, of course!
Jordan and I went to the Jurassic Park section while the boys were at a comic book store.
It was so wonderful and magical, we hated for it to end.
