new link
I just want to draw attention to a new link down on my link list, everydaypaleo.com. I don't think I'll be able to follow this way of eating strictly, but we will probably adopt certain aspects of it. There are some good recipes, and if you look for something called Paleo Comfort Foods on Facebook there are even more recipes (I just printed off the ones for mashed cauliflower and pot roast). Anyway, I thought these sites were worth sharing, I'll post as I experiment! Oh, I've already started, this morning for breakfast I am having 2 fried eggs with 2 slices of tomatoes (both with salt and pepper)...

faith
I just started a book I've been wanting to read for some time, after Jon tracked it down at the home of the person he loaned it to years ago, sitting on their bookshelf. It's called, Stages of Faith, by James W. Fowler. Anyway, I really like his description of faith:
"Faith is a coat against (this) nakedness. For most of us, most of the time, faith functions so as to screen off the abyss of mystery that surrounds us. But we all at certain times call upon faith to provide nerve to stand in the presence of the abyss--naked, stripped of life supports, trusting only in the being, the mercy and the power of the Other in the darkness. Faith helps us form a dependable "life space," an ultimate environment. At a deeper level, faith undergirds us when our life space is punctured and collapses, when the felt reality of our ultimate environment proves to be less than ultimate." Jordan's summer tea party
Jordan has talked and talked about having a "party" for months, now, and she finally got her wish today! Jenna, Joy, and Clara Kate are actually still over right now, and here is some of what they have done so far:
Made bead necklaces:
Had lunch and cookies:
Smiled a lot:
They have also played hide and go seek, musical chairs, Barbies, The Ladybug Game, and some zombie tag game. My boys went to Clara Kate's house to play with her brother, so I have been able to catch up on my blog...good day for everyone!
horse camp
I signed Zach and Jordan up for a half day horse camp using a Living Social deal at a beautiful horse farm in Durham. Needless to say, Jordan was in HEAVEN. She also concentrates with her tongue, so in a couple of the pictures she has that tongue going, so funny! Zach liked it pretty well, too, but he just doesn't have the same horse craziness his sister has. That, and it was like a million degrees out (even hotter today), so we left about an hour and a half early. After Zach, Jordan, and most of the other 16 campers had their lessons, they did lessons with the "advanced" riders. Boy, those "advanced" riders liked letting everyone know they were the "advanced" riders, and they did NOT need any help with ANYTHING. Jordan wanted to help brush the pony they were getting ready to ride but this little seven-year old let her know in no uncertain terms that help was not needed, to quote her, "we got this." Oh, man, if looks could kill my daughter would have blood on her hands! Regardless, it was a day well spent with my younger two, and the older boys got to go bowling with Nana and have pizza. I guess Nana's still got it when it comes to bowling, too!
